We are excited to welcome you aboard for a magical journey with the dolphins and whales of Drake Bay, Costa Rica. Below is everything you need to know to prepare for your upcoming tour.

📍 Meeting Location & Pick-Up Details

Time: Please be at Playa Colorada (the main beach in Drake Bay) no later than 7:55 AM.

Pick-up is at 8:00 AM, where the road ends at the beach—where all boats arrive and depart.

If you haven’t already, please send us a message with the name of your hotel for emergency contact purposes.

Depending on sea conditions and group size, you’ll be picked up by one of our two turquoise boats:

“Delfinita” (smaller boat with a blue top) – often used for beach transfers when the surf is rough.

“Delfin Amor” (our larger tour boat with dolphin artwork along the sides).

⛵ We won’t be on the beach to greet you. We will pull up close to shore with our boat. Please watch for us and be ready to board. Our crew will assist you while holding the boat steady. Timeliness is essential—we cannot delay departure out of respect for our guests.

🧳 What to Bring & Wear

Bathing suit (wear it under your clothes)
Lightweight poncho or jacket (just in case of rain)
Towel (especially if the weather is cool or cloudy)
Non-spray reef-safe sunscreen
Light breakfast beforehand is recommended

🚫 Motion Sickness Tips

Take non-drowsy medication the night before and again at least one hour before departure
Avoid greasy or heavy breakfasts

🐋 What to Expect

Every tour is unique! We may encounter dolphins or whales near shore or travel farther out to see vast megapods of offshore dolphins.

During whale season (late July–October): We often focus on Humpback Whales, especially moms and calves.
Dolphins are here year-round and may even play alongside the whales!
Some days they’re playful and interactive, other days they’re peacefully resting—but they usually let us hang out nearby.

Entering the water is never guaranteed. If conditions allow and the dolphins are social, we may quietly enter. We follow their lead and respect their space.

Approx. 5–6 hours
Vegetarian, dairy-free lunch (usually pasta salad, coleslaw, fruit)
Cold water and light snack provided
Snorkeling gear if ocean conditions allow
Shade cover and cushioned seating with backrests
Restroom breaks included

4+ days in advance: Full refund minus $25 per person
Less than 4 days: No refund
No refunds for rain, rough seas, low sightings, or late arrivals
Full refund if we cancel due to unsafe weather or mechanical issues
Guests are responsible for lost/damaged gear
